Dr. Robinson is a Research Assistant Professor and the Director of the CLIA-certified Sequencing Facility at the Michigan Center for Translational Pathology (MCTP) and has over 20 years of experience in biomedical sciences research, focusing mainly on cancer molecular biology and genetics. His research interests include developing protocols to utilize high throughput next generation sequencing in the study of cancer at both the genome and transcriptome level.  Along with the bioinformatics group, he is currently incorporating new methods of analysis to extract significant results relative to a wide range of somatic aberrations in cancer such as gene fusions, single nucleotide mutations, small indels, tandem internal duplications, deletions, and copy number variations.  He has led the clinical sequencing efforts through MI-ONCOSEQ since its inception in 2011 and authored several high-impact papers on major findings resulting from the study.
